ELEN Story AI is designed for adults to create and review stories. Children do not create accounts. This Notice explains how we handle information associated with data-minimized child profiles and Family Playback sessions under an adult account. Child-related information is not anonymous merely because the profile uses a nickname. Our approach is centered on collecting less data and keeping adult controls in place.
Only adults (18 or older) can create an ELEN Story AI account. The adult is the account holder and is responsible for all activity, including creating child profiles and generating content. When you create a child profile, you must use a fictional nickname, not the child's real name, and must not enter any other personally identifying information.
A child profile is a data-minimized record under the adult's account. It contains: (a) a nickname chosen by the adult; (b) a preset avatar; (c) a broad content level rather than an exact age; (d) internal identifiers needed to operate the profile; and (e) the adult's family-library assignments for that profile. Essential technical and security data related to a Family Playback session can be associated with the adult account. We do not store child reactions, child voice recordings, or optional child-originated analytics. Do not provide a child's real name, exact age, birthdate, contact information, location, school, photo, or voice. If we learn that prohibited information was submitted, we may remove it and restrict the account.
Family Playback is for viewing and listening only. A child profile can access only stories that the adult explicitly approved for the private family library. Family Playback cannot create stories, type prompts, upload files, use voice features, open Community, comment, react, report, block, publish, or use account-management features. Optional analytics are disabled during Family Playback. Approved Community stories may be publicly viewable on our website outside Family Playback, so adults should use Family Playback when providing the Service to a child.
As the adult account holder, you must not enter a child's real name or any other personal information about a child into prompts, story titles, or any other free-text field. This information may be processed by our AI service providers and, if you choose to share a story publicly, could become visible to others.
Only an adult account holder can submit a story to Community, report content, or block a creator. Approved Community stories may be publicly viewable in our Community and may be used by ELEN Story AI on third-party social, video, app-store, advertising, and promotional channels as described in our Terms. Family Playback cannot open Community and Community submission never adds a story to the private family library; the adult must approve that separately. You must ensure that any submitted story contains no identifying or sensitive information about a child because public and third-party copies may be difficult or impossible to recall.
As the account holder, you have full control over the child profiles under your account. You can create, view, edit, and delete child profiles at any time through your account settings. Deleting your main account will also delete all associated child profiles and their data, subject to our standard retention policies.
Educators may use their own adult account for adult-led content creation, but must not create identifiable student profiles, upload rosters or student records, or enter real student information in prompts. An educator must not assume that accepting these consumer Terms authorizes child-data processing for a school. Institutional or student-specific use requires a separate written agreement and whatever school or parental authorization applicable law requires.
We retain child profile data for as long as the adult's account is active or until the adult deletes the specific profile. When an account is deleted, associated child profile data is also deleted from our active systems according to our main Privacy Policy.
Data associated with your account, including child profile data, may be processed by us and our service providers in countries outside of your own. We use appropriate legal safeguards for such transfers as required by law.
All stories are generated by the adult account holder. While our AI systems include content safety filters, no automated system is perfect. The adult account holder is solely responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content for safety and appropriateness before sharing it with a child.
We may update this Children's Privacy Notice. If we make material changes, we will notify the adult account holder through the Service or by other means.
