Deep inside the cool, dark earth, Pip the Seed was fast asleep. He was a small, round brown seed with two tiny green leaves on his head. Above him, the world was waiting for something very wonderful to happen.

Suddenly, a friendly bird named Ruby the Robin landed nearby. She had a bright orange chest and wore a small straw sunhat. Ruby tapped on the ground with her yellow beak to wake up her little friend.

Ruby chirped loudly to tell Pip it was time to grow. She explained that every plant needs four special things to become big and strong. Pip listened closely with his tiny green leaves twitching in the dark soil.

The first thing a plant needs is healthy soil to sit in. Pip felt the warm earth hugging him like a soft blanket. This brown soil held all the food he needed to start his big journey upward.

Next, the clouds gathered and sent down a gentle rain. Pip felt the cool water soaking into his brown skin. He took a long, refreshing drink to help him stretch his roots deep into the ground.

After the rain, the bright yellow sun came out to play. The warm sunlight reached down through the dirt to give Pip plenty of energy. He felt strong enough to finally push his way toward the surface.

Page 7
Pip finally poked his head out into the fresh, clean air. He breathed in deeply because plants need air to grow just like we do. The world looked so big and beautiful to the tiny green sprout.

Days passed, and Pip grew taller and taller with Ruby’s help. He grew more leaves and a strong green stem. He was not just a seed anymore, but a brave little plant reaching for the blue sky.

One morning, a colorful bud appeared at the very top of Pip’s stem. Ruby the Robin did a happy dance in her sunhat. Something amazing was about to happen as the sun began to rise over the hills.

And so, Pip opened up into a beautiful red flower with golden petals. He had everything he needed: soil, water, sun, and air. Finally, the little seed had finished his journey and made the whole world brighter.
