A story to share together
The Bear Who Learned to Roar

Page 1
Deep in the Green Forest lived a little bear named Benno. Benno thought that to be big and strong, he had to roar a lot and always have the biggest pile of berries. When he roared, the other animals would hide. He wore a red scarf and often looked grumpy. He did not understand why no one wanted to play with him.

One sunny morning, Benno found the biggest honey pot he had ever seen. He roared loudly, "MY honey pot!" and pushed away a little rabbit who had come closer out of curiosity. Finchen the squirrel and Rudi the badger watched him from afar. They shook their heads sadly, because Benno ate all the honey by himself.

Later that day, Benno was playing alone with a ball he had found. The ball rolled down a small hill and landed right in front of Rudi the badger. Rudi picked up the ball and wanted to give it back to Benno. But Benno immediately roared, "Give me my ball!" and snatched it from Rudi's paw. Rudi sighed and walked away sadly.

Benno sat alone under a tree, eating his berries. He saw Finchen and Rudi playing happily together, sharing nuts and laughing. A pang of sadness went through Benno's heart. He had the biggest pile of berries, but he was all alone. No one wanted to roar with him or share his honey. He wished he had friends.

Benno stood up and walked slowly over to Finchen and Rudi. He said quietly, "I am sorry that I was so loud and did not share the honey. I would like to play with you, too." Finchen and Rudi looked at each other in surprise. Rudi was the first to smile and handed Benno a nut. Benno beamed as he took the nut.

And so, Benno learned that kindness and sharing are much nicer than roaring and selfishness. From that day on, Benno played with all the animals in the forest, sharing his honey and his berries. He discovered how much fun it is to have friends. Finally, he understood that a kind heart is much stronger than any loud roar. The forest was a much happier place.
