Pip and Squeak’s Golden Meadow Adventure

Page 1
Deep inside the Golden Meadow lived two best friends named Pip and Squeak. Pip was a bright auburn squirrel who loved his yellow scarf. Today, Pip was very excited because he had a brand new wooden sailboat to test.
Page 2
Squeak the gray squirrel arrived with his favorite shiny red ball. He saw Pip and waved his white-patched paw happily. Squeak wanted to play a game of catch, but Pip held his wooden boat very tightly against his chest.

Can I see your new boat, Pip? Squeak asked with a big smile. Pip shook his head and stepped back toward the tall daisies. I do not want anyone to touch it because it might get dirty or break.
Page 4
Squeak felt lonely, so he went to the other side of the meadow. He bounced his red ball against a large rock all by himself. Thump, thump, thump went the ball. Playing alone was not as fun as playing together.
Page 5
Pip sat by the sparkling blue stream and placed his boat in the water. The white sail caught the wind, and the boat moved quickly. Pip cheered, but there was nobody there to see how fast his boat could go.

Suddenly, Pip’s boat got stuck on a slippery mossy log in the middle of the water. Pip tried to reach it with his paws, but the stream was too wide. He felt very sad as his favorite toy stayed stuck.

Squeak saw his friend in trouble and ran over as fast as he could. He did not care that Pip had been grumpy earlier. Squeak used his shiny red ball to gently nudge the boat free from the mossy log.

The boat floated back to the shore, and Pip caught it safely. Thank you for helping me, Squeak! Pip said softly. He realized that his friend was much more important than a toy. He felt bad for not sharing.

Pip handed the wooden boat to Squeak so they could take turns sailing it down the stream. Then they used the red ball to play a fun game of water tag. They laughed and splashed in the warm afternoon sun.
Page 10
Finally, the two friends learned that toys are better when they are shared with others. Sharing made their friendship even stronger than before. And from that day on, Pip and Squeak always played together in the Golden Meadow.
