Pip’s Helpful Heart

Page 1
Deep in the chilly South Pole, Pip the Penguin woke up with a big wiggle and a shake of his yellow scarf. The sun was shining on the blue ice, but Pip felt a little lonely because he had no one to play with.

Page 2
Pip waddled toward the ocean and saw Boris the Seal looking very sad. Boris had lost his favorite smooth pebble in a deep snowdrift and his big flippers were too wide to dig it out.

Page 3
'Don't worry, Boris!' Pip chirped. He tucked his yellow scarf in tight and slid into the snowdrift. With his small flippers and quick feet, Pip scooped out the snow until he found the shiny, round pebble.

Next, Pip saw the Mama Gulls flapping their wings in distress. A gust of wind had blown their nest of soft feathers across the slippery ice, and they were struggling to catch them all.

Page 5
Pip used his belly to slide fast like a little sled, catching every single feather before they reached the water. The Mama Gulls squeaked with joy as Pip handed back the soft pile for their nest.

Page 6
By the time the sun began to set, Pip wasn't lonely at all. Boris and the Mama Gulls gathered around him to say thank you. Pip realized that helping his friends was the best game he had ever played.
