Little Toby loved crunchy red apples more than any other treat. One sunny spring morning, he ran into Grandpa Leo's green orchard. He wanted to pick a sweet apple for his breakfast right away.

Toby looked up at the big apple tree, but he saw no fruit at all. Only tiny brown buds rested on the bare wooden branches. His shoulders dropped as he sighed with disappointment.

Grandpa Leo held Toby's small hand and smiled gently. He explained that mother nature takes time to bake sweet treats. The friendly old tree had to wake up from its long winter sleep first.

A warm shower of rain fell softly over the rolling grassy hill. The strong tree drank the cool water through its deep roots underground. Toby watched through the kitchen window as bright green leaves uncurled.

Soon, lovely pink and white blossoms opened all across the tree. Buzzing yellow bees flew from flower to flower, dusting them with golden pollen. Toby giggled happily at the gentle humming sounds around them.

When the soft flower petals drifted away in the warm breeze, little green bumps appeared. Grandpa Leo lifted Toby high up into the air. Toby touched one tiny green apple with great care.

The bright summer sun shone warmly from high in the sky. The tree soaked up the golden light to feed its growing fruit. Week by week, the round little apples grew bigger and stronger.

Autumn brought a crisp breeze, and the green skins turned shiny and ruby red. The thick branches bent low under the weight of delicious round fruit. Toby clapped his hands with pure joy.

Grandpa Leo showed Toby how to twist and gently lift the apple from its stem. With a cheerful snap, the red fruit parted from the leafy branch. It fit perfectly inside Toby's two little hands.

Toby took a big, juicy bite and tasted sweet sunshine and rain. He gave the sturdy tree trunk a warm hug of gratitude. And so, Toby learned that wonderful things grow with gentle patience and love.
