Page 1
Eight-year-old Meryem dreamed of healing people and keeping everyone healthy. She proudly put on her white play coat and hung her shiny red stethoscope around her neck. Today, her sunny garden patio was ready to become a welcoming clinic.

Meryem arranged clean bandages, soft cotton balls, and colorful sticker badges across her wooden table. Being a great doctor took more than medicine; it required listening with an open heart. She stood up tall, waiting for her very first patient.

Her plush brown teddy bear, Barnaby, sat crooked on a chair. His left arm looked floppy and sad from an old tear. Meryem gently placed her stethoscope on his soft tummy and took a deep, calming breath to comfort him.

"Do not worry, Barnaby," Meryem whispered with a reassuring smile. "A small seam fix will make you strong again." Using bright green bandage tape from her kit, she carefully wrapped his worn arm until it felt sturdy and snug.

Suddenly, a loud whimper echoed from the porch steps. Her little golden puppy, Pip, hobbled toward the table on three paws. He held his front paw high off the ground, looking up with wide, worried eyes and a drooping tail.

Meryem felt a flutter of worry, but she remembered to stay calm for her patient. She knelt softly on the cool stone floor so she would not frighten him. "Let Doctor Meryem take a look," she said in a soothing voice.

With delicate fingers, she inspected the bottom of Pip's tiny paw. A prickly brown burr was caught tightly between his soft black pads. Pip whined softly, but Meryem stroked his floppy ears to help him relax completely.

Meryem reached into her kit for smooth plastic tweezers. Working slowly and steadily, she lifted the prickly burr free in one gentle motion. Pip gave a soft sigh of relief, licking her cheek to say thank you.

She dabbed cool water on his paw and pressed a sparkling yellow star sticker onto his shiny blue collar. Pip bounded happily across the grass, his tail wagging like a joyful banner. Doctor Meryem had solved another tough medical case.

And so, Doctor Meryem packed her kit with a grateful heart, knowing that true medicine begins with patience and love. Hugging Barnaby and Pip tight, she knew for certain that she would grow up to heal the whole world.
