A young girl named Lily travels to the Arctic in her dreams to learn how polar bears live, hunt, and stay warm in the snow.
Page 1
Lily sat by her bedroom window, watching the soft snowflakes fall against the glass. She held her favorite book about the icy Arctic and wondered how animals lived in such a cold place. Soon, her eyes grew very heavy.

Suddenly, Lily was standing on a sparkling sheet of ice under a bright blue sky. A large, fluffy polar bear named Pippa padded toward her with a friendly wag of her tail. Pippa had thick, creamy white fur.

Pippa explained that her thick fur was actually made of clear hairs that trap the sun's warmth. Underneath all that white fluff, her skin was as black as coal! This secret helps polar bears stay cozy in the wind.

Lily watched as Pippa walked across the slippery ice without falling down once. The bear showed Lily her giant paws, which were covered in tiny bumps and fur. These special pads act like snow shoes to prevent any sliding.

They reached the edge of the deep blue water, and Pippa jumped in with a giant splash. She was a master swimmer, using her front paws like oars to glide through the waves. Lily cheered from the snowy shore.

Pippa climbed out and shook herself dry, sending ice crystals flying everywhere like diamonds. She told Lily that polar bears have a thick layer of fat called blubber. This keeps them warm even when they swim in freezing water.

The duo walked to a tall snowbank where Pippa showed Lily a cozy snow den. Polar bears dig these deep holes to sleep safely during the coldest winter storms. It was a perfect, quiet room made of sparkling white snow.

Pippa looked up at the sky and told Lily how important the sea ice is for her family. They need the solid ice to travel and find food throughout the year. Lily promised to help take care of the Earth.

The sky turned beautiful shades of pink and purple as the sun began to set. Pippa gave Lily a gentle nuzzle with her big black nose. It was time for Lily to return home to her warm, soft bed.

Finally, Lily woke up in her own room, feeling very happy and wise. She knew that even though the Arctic was far away, it was a special place worth protecting. And so, Lily became the biggest polar bear fan ever!
