Little Astronaut Mert and the Red Planet
Mert, a curious boy, discovers why Earth is the best home for us and why living on Mars is so difficult.
Page 1
Little Mert put on his shiny white spacesuit, his heart pounding with excitement. He was ready to go to his biggest dream, the Red Planet, Mars. His loyal friend, Robot Bip-Bop, hovered in the air, smiling at him with his blue digital face.
Page 2
Their spaceship landed slowly on the rusty, orange surface of Mars. When Mert looked out the window, he saw that everything was covered in dusty rocks. There were no trees, rivers, or bird songs. Mars looked very quiet and desolate.

Mert wanted to go outside, but Bip-Bop stopped him immediately. The little robot explained that there was no air to breathe on Mars. The fresh oxygen that trees on Earth give us was not here. That is why Mert could never take off his helmet.

Mert felt thirsty and took a sip of water from his canteen. Bip-Bop said that there were no lakes or oceans on Mars. Without water, flowers cannot grow and animals cannot live. The Red Planet was actually a very dry and thirsty place.

Suddenly, a huge storm broke out, and everything was covered in a cloud of dust. The weather on Mars could be freezing cold at times and very dangerous at others. Unfortunately, it did not have an atmosphere like Earth's thick blanket that protects us.

Mert wanted to plant a small apple sapling he had brought with him. However, the soil was very hard and lacked nutrients. The rich soil needed for plants to grow was not here. Creating gardens and growing fruit on Mars was a truly difficult task.

When Mert tried to jump, he felt very light and almost hit the ceiling. Mars's gravity was different from Earth's. This was not very healthy for our bones and muscles. The human body was perfectly accustomed to living just as it does on Earth.

The little astronaut began to miss the lush green forests and deep blue seas of his home. He understood now more than ever what a special place Earth was. Everything there was prepared perfectly for living things to thrive.

Bip-Bop said gently, 'Earth is our only true home.' Mert nodded in agreement. Mars was a wonderful place to explore, but it was too hard to live there. He knew it was time to return to his own beautiful planet.

When the ship finally landed on Earth, Mert took a deep breath. The smell of the grass and the chirping of the birds sounded like the most beautiful song to him. Mert now knew that even if we travel to the stars, we must always protect our home, Earth, very well.
